Morning Session I Formal Programming – Pre-registration Required (Opens October 4th)

Learn to developing your own tarot spread with Cecilia Tan this WRW. Tarot is about freeing your subconscious to let you discover ways of divination that work for you and your vibe and style. Whether you are new to the tarot or divination in general, or you’re an old hand looking to see the cards with fresh eyes, this class will delve into techniques for making up your own spreads and styles of readings. If the Celtic Cross never made sense to you, let’s invent something that does! If you have decks you like, bring them! We will also have a few decks available to borrow, but notebook and a pen/pencil is a good idea.

Step into the realm of the Fae on a mystical woodland hunt where magic stirs beneath the leaves and ancient secrets whisper through the trees. Join fairy attendants Deanna & dyAnne for an enchanting journey where you’ll unravel a mysterious tale woven through the forest, guided by riddles, clues, and signs left by the fair folk themselves. To pass safely through their realm, you must offer a gift—one from the heart—to appease the fae and earn their favor. Come ready to explore, imagine, and believe… for once you enter the fae’s domain, nothing is quite what it seems.

Milagro, meaning “miracle” in Spanish, are religious folk charms found throughout Mexico. The heart-shaped Milagro (aka The Sacred Heart) represents love, healing, and gratitude. You’ll make one, not from wood or tin, but multicoloured felt, sequins for sparkle, and learn basic embroidery stitches to decorate and seal any intentions inside the heart itself. WRW’s decor mistress herself Jess M invites you to create one as a representative of loving yourself, your friends and family, or if needed, requests for divine help while adorning any space you choose.

Self-care can be an act of resistance. The session is a space to pause, breathe, and reclaim your inner ground in a world that rarely lets you rest. We’ll explore what self-care actually looks like for you, beyond the buzzwords, and how to make space for it in hard times. It does not always have to be bubble baths, manicures, or face masks. Sometimes self-care is setting boundaries, taking risks, or employing coping skills that may surprise you.

The session ends with a 30-minute guided meditation by Emily Kastner, LCSW, designed to help you reconnect, reset, and remember that stillness is a form of resistance. Comfort items and comfy clothes encouraged.

Please join us for a multi-fandom read aloud of new fanfiction written by… you! We will all start our fics with the same starting sentence: “The last flame went out.” Each participant will get to read aloud their work and listen to everyone’s take on the prompt. The recommended length is 500-1500 words. All fandoms and ratings are welcome. Please include content warnings. All authors have the choice of receiving feedback, or just applause, after their reading.

Facilitated by Nadia Mulvihill, a high school English teacher in the Hudson Valley, NY. Her main fandoms are Harry Potter and Hunger Games, and she’ll read/watch anything dystopian and/or horror. When she’s not immersed in fandom, she enjoys watching reality TV, yoga, and hiking.

Are you a skeptic of the occult? Do you think astrology is full of baloney, but share the memes anyway because they’re fun? See people do Tarot or Oracle card readings but don’t really “get it”? Then join Janet Tang, LMHC-D to take a look at the Tarot from the Skeptic’s perspective – blending traditional Tarot beliefs with Jungian psychology principles, we will embark on a journey together to have a better understanding the history of Tarot reading, divination, and why fortune telling is so compelling even today. By the end of this session you will be able to have a basic understanding of the symbolism in Tarot and an ability to use the deck or any other oracle deck as a tool in your everyday life. This class is brought to you by a licensed therapist who staunchly believes in the power of narrative therapy and the stories we tell ourselves time and time again.
