“Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them.” – Lupin

REPARO!: A RESTORATIVE SELF CARE SESSION is an opportunity to take a step back, confront our Dementors, and practice a bit of magical self care. Self-care does not always have to be bubble baths, manicures or face-masks. Sometimes self-care is setting boundaries, taking risks, or employing coping skills that may surprise you. Participants will get to decide what self-care looks like for them.

Participants will be led in a discussion surrounding mental health and wellness, and participate in a guided meditation led by Emily Kastner, LMSW. Comfort items and comfy clothes encouraged.

What is cross-stitch? It’s basically just analog pixel art. Let crafter extraordinaire Marz be your guide through the creation of some magical miniature cross-stitches (they’re only about 1″!) that can be turned into pins, magnets, and more! All you need to know before you come is how to thread a needle and not burn yourself with hot glue. #greatexpectations

All materials will be provided.

Do you like high flying fun, wind in your hair, and the smell of freshly polished broom? Whether you are a professional beater, amateur chaser or an enthusiastic fan, you can play QUIDDITCH IN CONNECTICUT at the Wizard Retreat Weekend. Learn how to throw a bludger, score with a quaffle or chase down the elusive Snitch!

Quidditch will be taught by former NYC Badassiliks player Jared Rohrer.

Pack your athletic robes and trainers. Brooms will be provided.

SPELL JARS can be an amazing way to collect and carry pieces of nature. They can be used if you feel yourself struggling to be positive, protect you from bad vibes, or to ensure you’re sending out a clear message to the universe about what you desire.

In WRW class, HOW TO MAKE A SPELL JAR: MINDFULLNESS AND PRACTICAL MAGIC, your instructor Jess Mercado will give you the tools and knowledge to make your own! They may contain herbs and crystals, slips of paper with your hopes and dreams, a favorite flower, or even metaphorical representations of items or feelings that are important to you!

All materials will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring their own items of personal importance to add to their jars!

Seriously. How many times have we all read the original seven? It’s almost like we can repeat some passages verbatim on command. But how many little details do you really know?

Come test your memory and self appointed title of HP Trivia Wizard at Harry Potter Trivia: After Dark. All questions will be from the events that happened during the series AFTER the sun has set.

Grab a friend and get to reading…again…to prepare for this team of two style trivia tournament. Given the desinated time, we should be able to manage four games with three teams in each game. Prizes will be given to the winning teams.

Kat “Ell” Amitrano has loved reading since she was 5 years old. When she was introduced to the Wizarding World, her whole life changed. She found new friends, new family, went on new adventures to new places, and never forgot the lessons she learned from HP: Everyone deserves a chance to be loved and valued for who they are. In 2017, while attending a convention as a “barker” for a vendor, she met her co-hosts. Life since has been VERY entertaining.

Welcome to the Room of Reiki. Allow yourself to decompress from the muggle world. Join us in a guided meditation and reiki circle that will honour the flow of positive energy. Reiki, rei meaning life and ki meaning energy, is a Japanese healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and anxiety through gentle touch.

Everyone has the ability to connect with their own magical healing energy and use it to strengthen the magic in themselves.

Wands Out: Wrong Aurors, Right Place

Join a table of 4-6 players in a tabletop role-playing game (a homebrew of Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition rules) for a session of collaborative storytelling using pre-generated character sheets (you have room to add personal flavor).  In the UK’s 1970s wizarding world, with your bell-bottoms and fashionably coiffed hair, a cadre of 4-6 aurors from the Ministry of Magic’s Department of Fantastical Beasts was sent to a mansion to investigate reports of an eccentric millionaire hoarding exotic creatures.  The reports were correct and you sent most of the captive creatures off to magical veterinary care, but the millionaire is yet missing.  Finding an ornate wardrobe that transports you to a subterranean hideaway under the mansion, you now head either a rescue mission or a raid depending on what’s become of the millionaire.  And…did anyone notice those claw marks on the wall?  Is that webbing?  Better get your wands out.

The Guest House Retreat Center will be transformed into Kingfisher Manor. The home of Wizarding couple Cassius Phoenix Kingfisher and his lovely wife Felicia Wisteria Kingfisher. This eccentric pair will be your hosts and MCs for the weekend. For those of you who like to play along with us, the design theme for the weekend will be Addams Family meets Hogwarts, with a touch of Edward Gorey.

As with most of our events, cosplay is encouraged but not required.  Additional details will be released as we approach the date.
